Thank you so much! Supplies have been purchased, and the students have already started working on their art. The two students were so moved by your generosity; they were forced to leave school in Afghanistan and didn't know that they would ever have the opportunity to go back. They are taking full advantage of this chance to be students and follow their interests.
I'm sending you a picture of what they've done so far (they'll work more over summer break). The students prefer to not have pictures of themselves posted publicly, so I'll let their work speak for them. For now, I have two of their pieces hanging in a display case on the first floor near room 101; I'll keep the others safe from construction dust over the summer and hang them when we return.
As an assistant softball coach this year I really learned a lot and enjoyed spending time with the student-athletes and developing relationships with them outside of the academic day. Some of the things I assisted with are as follows:
I assisted in majority of softball practices working with all of the players to develop their skills - running drills, working one-on-one with the players, occasionally running practice if other coaches were not able to make it
I assisted at majority of our softball games - usually as 1st base coach and would also help with building the lineup
I assisted in communicating with the players about any game/practice changes that came up throughout the season
I assisted in checking student-athletes' eligibility throughout the season - I also had a lot of conversations with players about how they can become eligible and made plans with them for them to achieve eligibility.
I assisted in communicating with AD about eligibility throughout the season
I assisted in making sure the players had a say in the new jersey selection that were purchased this season. This was a lot of back-and-forth conversation between Landers, the players and me.
I connected with Schoolfundr and got information to the players about this fundraiser
I facilitated conversations with players and other coaches around things that they had concerns or frustrations with.
I assisted in ensuring all of our players were registered properly for softball at the start of the season.
On 5/29 we hosted our Camden Fine Arts Night, which featured students enrolled in Jazz Band, Beginning Band, Advanced Guitar, Pop Choir, Spoken Word, and various mediums of physical and visual art. Before the concert, we hosted a pizza party for roughly about 70 students in the band room. Students brought video & board games, ate pizza and celebrated all the hard work and successes from the school year, which was huge for developing community, and growing the arts department. Thank you so much for your support this year. It really impacted our community!
We need volunteers to help us with our fundraising efforts and more effectively. Whether it's event planning or administrative tasks, your support can help us achieve our goals.
